Overview
This pixel protocol was designed by Genesis-Systech in China, and offers a number of unique features. The chip itself has a wide input voltage range, and gives 16-bit control. Pairing with a PixLite Mk3 controller, GS8303 can be driven at speeds up to 1200kHz, allowing for good frame rates. The control circuit comes in a SOP8 package, with RGB output pins, and redundant data connection.
Current Control
GS8303 has the ability to digitally control the current of the connected LEDs. Use the 4-bit current control per color to lower the brightness without sacrificing resolution, and tune the current of individual colors, allowing for more accurate color mixing. This individual current control can be set when configuring your PixLite Mk3 controller.

Considerations for Use
Advantages
- Very high PWM rate allows for filming these pixels with cameras up to 1600fps
- Wide voltage range, allows for long cable lengths and long chains of pixels
- Redundant data line reduces chance of entire strip failure
Disadvantages
- Data-only restricts refresh rates to be limited by the speed of the protocol, which can be slow, but GS8303 has a faster speed than most data-only protocols, which can help achieve target frame rates.
