Overview
This range of pixel fixtures from ENTTEC use the SMART PXL (SPXL) protocol. The range offers a selection between RGB and RGBW LEDs, and a wide array of physical options. The IC chip used within these fixtures is a SOP8 package, and the details of these chips are described in full below.
Advatek PixLite Mk3 hardware can control SMART PXL using a 16-bit or 8-bit input data source. 16-bit input data allows precise control for high resolution applications. When using an 8-bit input data source, PixLite can apply gamma correction and upscale to 16-bit to enhance the visual output of these products.
SMART PXL 24V variants are compatible with all PixLite Mk3 controllers, and the 48V variants can be easily driven by the R1 receiver with its 5-48V input range.
Note: Advatek Lighting is in no way affiliated with ENTTEC, or the SPXL product.

Considerations for Use
Advantages
- 24V and 48V fixture options allows for very long cable lengths
- High PWM rate allows for filming these pixels with cameras up to 133FPS
- 16 bits of data for each color makes dimming curves very smooth
- Option for white LED allows for higher brightness and more color mixing options
Disadvantages
- Data-only restricts refresh rates to be limited by the speed of the protocol, which can be slow
- No redundancy in data
- Digital current control is not supported, so the color mix cannot be digitally tuned on-site.
