Considerations for Use
- SM16705 is a constant voltage driver and therefore requires external current limiting and LED design. If a constant current pixel IC is required, we suggest considering SM15055.
Advantages
- Five-channel output (RGBW1W2) enables advanced color mixing and accurate white tuning across warm and cool white LEDs
- High PWM rate allows for filming these pixels with cameras up to 133fps
- 16-bit grayscale per channel enables extremely smooth dimming and color transitions
Disadvantages
- Data-only restricts refresh rates to be limited by the speed of the protocol, which can be slow
- Limited by 5V input, causing short cable lengths
- Digital current controls not supported, so that color mix cannot be digitally tuned on-site
